CCI Seminar - Norwegian Labor Law and Trade Union

By admin - Posted on 09 October 2014

Competence Center for Immigrants (CCI) is going to host a seminar about the Norwegian Working Environment Act (Arbeidsmiljøloven) and the labor unions. This seminar will be held on Saturday, October 25th 2014 at Ullevaal Panorama, Sognsveien 77C Oslo.

CCI is a project managed by CPN (Chinese Professionals in Norway) with the financial support from IMDi (The Directorate of Integration and Diversity).

The Working Environment Act is the most important Norwegian law which regulates all working related issues, from the rights of a worker and the duties of an employer to the problems of discrimination and conflict in work. A trade union or labor union is an organization of workers who have come together to achieve common goals such as protecting the integrity of its trade, achieving higher pay and benefits such as health care and retirement, safety standards, and better working conditions.

Mr. Claus Jervell will be the speaker at the seminar. Mr. Jervell is a senior advisor at the Equality and Anti-Discrimination Ombud and he is mainly responsible for working related issues at the Ombud. He also worked many years as a leader of a trade union before. He will explain the laws and give some examples about the common conflicts in the job environment and suggestions for the solution. The seminar will include a Q&A session and an open discussion, where audiences can bring up their own experiences and questions to share.
