Competence Center for Immigrants (CCI)

The Competence Center for Immigrants (‘Kompetansesenter for Innvandrer’ in Norwegian) was established in 2010 and since developed by CPN (Chinese Professionals in Norway), with financial support from The Directorate of Integration and Diversity (IMDi). The aim is to provide practical information and services to the immigrants, offer them networking opportunities, and help them quickly adapt to the Norwegian society. CCI mainly targets newly arrived labor migrants and their family members, but is open for all immigrants. It is free to join CCI, and all services and activities offered by CCI are free of charge to the registered members.

The website of CCI is, which provides relevant information, online interactive services, forums, and answers to ‘frequently asked questions’ about working and living in Norway. The center also offers a series of seminars each year, covering a wide range of topics such as Norwegian labor laws, health system, political systems, job market and job searching, education and kids, Norwegian history, NAV and social security, etc. Social gatherings are regularly arranged by CCI to provide a meeting place and allow people to get to know each other better through the activities. Typical yearly gatherings are the summer barbecue party, young people’s party, ERAS Multi-cultural festival, photo competition, Christmas party, etc.

In addition to social activities, CCI also cooperates with the Norwegian industry. The center arranges business visits to big companies, and helps the new migrants to learn more about the Norwegian working environment and business cultures. CCI maintains a database of CVs and competence information, to which all members of CCI can register their info if desired. CCI will recommend suitable candidates to relevant companies when there arise job opportunities. CCI has a comprehensive policy to protect the personal information of all members and does not disclose the personal information of to any third party without the member’s consent.

CCI also regularly organizes sports and entertainment activities, such as table tennis training every Saturday, and choir and fashion practice every second Sunday. Please check “Event & Activities” for more details.
