The most important job of a trade union is to fight for better pay and working conditions for its members. Most trade unions are affiliated to a national federation. There are four main employee confederations in Norway.

  • The Confederation of Norwegian Trade Unions (LO) is currently Norway’s biggest confederation with around 860,000 mem-bers in 21 national federations.
  • The Federation of Norwegian Professional Associations (Akademikerne),
  • Tekna: Workers union for technical workers with master degree and above.
