Founded in October 2003, Chinese Professionals in Norway (CPN, www.cpn2003.no) is a non-governmental, non-profit and non-political organization registered in Norway. Members of CPN encompass people of Chinese heritage who live in Norway and have a minimum of college education. The main objectives of CPN are to strengthen the communication between Chinese professionals living in Norway, to promote collaboration between immigrants groups, to build up information and contact platforms to help newcomers, and to facilitate integration and diversity in the Norwegian society.

CPN has a high concentration of elite immigrants including scientists, engineers, medical doctors, cooperate managers, etc. Currently CPN has over 600 registered members, among those about ¼ hold a PhD, ½ have a master’s degree and the remaining with a bachelor’s degree. Most of the CPN members work with technology, business, management, research & development in private companies and public sectors. In particular, CPN members have strong competence in fields such as shipping, oil industry, information and communication technologies, as well as international finance and investment. Four CPN members were awarded the Top 10 first-generation immigrants’ prize in 2005, 2008, 2009 and 2011, respectively.

CPN arranges many activities each year. Together with 25 immigrant organizations, CPN has been the main organizer of the yearly ERAS multicultural festival since 2007. CPN has also organized OXLO Photo Competition several times, supported by EMI (Enhet for mangfold og intergrering, Oslo Kommune).
